After the bout, be sure to stick around for a public skate with the rollergirls! We're a lot nicer off the derby track, we promise.

The fifth bout of the season brings two long-awaited rematches: Sockit Wenches vs. Derby Liberation Front and Grave Danger vs. Throttle Rockets.

BUMBERSHOOT FLAT TRACK INVITATIONAL

Saturday, September 2 -- Tick, tick, BOOM!

Only three weeks until the Bumberbout Flat-Track Tournament at Bumbershoot, where the Rat City Rollergirls will be joined by seven of the best roller derby teams from across the country. Bumberbout action promises to be fast, fierce and furious, making the legendary gathering of derby teams at the Dust Devil Tournament in February look like foreplay.

The tournament will be held one day only in Key Arena -- Saturday, Sept. 2nd, from noon to 10 p.m. at Key Arena.

Here's who'll be there:
Texas Rollergirls (Austin, Texas)
Minnesota Rollergirls (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
Rat City Rollergirls (Seattle, Washington)
Kansas City Roller Warriors (Kansas City, Missouri)
Mad Rollin' Dolls (Madison, Wisconsin)
Carolina Rollergirls (Raleigh, North Carolina)
Bay Area Derby Girls (San Francisco, California)
Boston Derby Dames (Boston, Massachusetts)

Buy tickets to Bumbershoot here -- no separate bout ticket needed!

Saturday, September 2 -- Bumberbout after party!
After all the fighting is done and the bruises have been iced and the rink rash carefully tended to, we're pretty sure that the only thing we're going to want to do is head out and throw back a drink or three! And where better to celebrate Seattle's first every derby tournament than with the Bumberbout After Party!?!

Saturday, September 2 -- doors at 10 p.m.
The Showbox
Entry: $7 (21+)
Featuring DJ BOBCAT and Rock-A-Roke with CFO.

LEAGUE NEWS

The votes are in!
Every year for their special People's Picks contest, NW Source collects votes from their readers on everything from Best Karaoke to Most Embarrassing Place to be Seen. This year, the results are in and the Rat City Rollergirls have won! The community agrees that the Rat City Rollergirls are the Pacific Northwest's Favorite Community Recreation Sport!

We also took second in Best Place to be Seen and made the short list in Best Place to be Under age. Thanks to all who voted for us and thank to NW Source for their support!

How big is your lens?
The Rat City Rollergirls love it when people take photos at their bouts and share them. Point-and-shoot cameras are always welcome, but commercial and video cameras are now prohibited unless you make arrangements with us ahead of time. Wanna bring a bigger lens than the one on your camera phone? To be considered for commercial-sized camera or video camera access at our bouts, please e-mail a photo request to shoveychase@ratcityrollergirls.com at least two weeks before the bout.

TEAM EVENTS

Thursday, August 17 -- Viking night with METAL!
Throttle Rocket Nite at the Funhouse
9:30 p.m. -- $6

Featuring Wizards of Wör and Badd Haggis, with DJ Nick and DJ Clapper. Don't miss the Viking games like Tug-O-War (in jello! seriously!). That's right. We're going to have a rope and everything. Mark your calendars and stay tuned (and don't forget to bring your helmets and drinking horns).

Saturday, August 19th -- Drinking with Danger!
Grave Danger at The Bad Juju Lounge
9:00 p.m. -- Free!

Featuring live music by the band Toe Tag, raffle prizes, rollergirls and the kind of debauchery that can only come from a derby team spawned from the deepest, darkest, depths of hell. Beware, sinners!

WAYS TO HELP

Volunteers needed!
Well, folks, we only have three more regular season bouts to go. That means there are only three more opportunities to help out with the second season of Seattle's first and only Women's Flat Track Roller Derby League, the Rat City Rollergirls! We currently need volunteers for bout 5 on August 26th. Volunteers are typically rewarded with free bout admission and our undying love and affection. Sign up here for more information!
