May 26: S3B4 with SW vs. TR and DLF vs. the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers
S3B4 bout poster image

We're back at the hangar and tickets are going fast. You won't want to miss the first match-up of the year between the Sockit Wenches and the Throttle Rockets. Will the Wenches' mechanical training keep things running smoothly or will the Throttle Rockets quest for Intergalactic Domination throw a monkey wrench in their plans?

It's the interleague rematch of the year! In 2006, Derby Liberation Front took the revolution down south and traveled to Austin, TX, to take on the infamous Texas Rollergirls. Though the Texans came away from that bout with one more notch on their collective belts, DLF is looking to even the score. The Honky Tonk Heartbreakers, the cowboy sweethearts of the derby, aren't going to know what hit 'em! [hint: it'll be wearing green]

bikeworks peopleOur featured community organization for May is Bikeworks. Their mission is to build sustainable communities by educating youth and promoting bicycling. They teach young people how to fix bikes, reward them with their own set of wheels, and provide affordable bicycle services to the community. Students learn bicycle repair over eight class sessions, then swap 24 hours of community repair for their own recycled cycle.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and we'll have our pre-show band starting at 5 p.m. in the beer garden. DJ Boo Berry will be spinning tunes all night long! After the bout, don't forget to stop by the afterparty and congratulate your favorite rollergirl (or help them drown their sorrows). More details here

Green vs. White: Who won?
green vs. white boutThe night began with any derby enthusiast's fantasy -- picking the ultimate derby dream team. Of course, this dream came with a price, winning one of our special eBay auctions to help fund the RCRG Travel Team's bid for #1 at WFTDA NATIONALS this September.

After a coin toss, Green Team coach Erik made his wise first picks of D-Bomb, Miss Fortune and Burnett Down. White Team coaches Nathaniel and Katie countered with the power block trio of Jowanna Ass-Kickin', Matilda the Hun, and Ann R. Kissed. After the teams were drafted, the action started. The teams were surprisingly evenly matched with hard blockers and speedy jammers on both sides, but the Green team pulled ahead early in the first half and maintained a ten point lead throughout the game for a 89-79 point victory.

boys in dressesHalftime entertainment was a RCRG BOY BOUT- the Senor Ritas vs the Drag Racers. The boys dressed up in their Sunday's best, showing us that "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." Not only was the bout entertaining, so were the derby names -- VALTREX 3000mg, Ima Mess, MoeFortune, and Draw Blood to name a few. The Senor Ritas came away victorious, along with a new appreciation for fishnets.

Special thanks again to our Green and White coaches Erik, Nathaniel and Katie; our announcers Shovey Chase and Jasper from the Atomic Bombshells; DJ Rocketman; scorewhore mommacherry; our volunteer EMTs, refs, and scorekeepers; and to Gordito's, Fast Girl Skates, and Bellevue Skate King for selling tickets and hosting the event.

White Team Members: Jowanna Ass-Kickin', Matilda the Hun, Ann R. Kissed, Hideous Braxley, Dirty Little Secret, Meg My Day, Carmen Getsome, Rollin' Bayou, Billie Boilermaker, and Rebel Belle
Green Team Members: D-Bomb, Miss Fortune, Burnett Down, Drew Blood, Rettig to Rumble, Edie Brickwall, Valtron 3000, Katarina Whip, Tash-ya Round, and Juliet Bravo

Thanks so much for all your support! Lap by lap and hit by hit, we're earning our way to Nationals and we have our fans to thank.

Save the date or you'll sleep with the fishes: It's the Mobster Mash!
The Rat City Rollergirls are putting the Godfather in Father's Day, June 17th, at a very special, very exclusive private event. This fundraiser (for RCRG's travel and world domination fund) will take place Sunday afternoon in a stylish, Seattle speakeasy. (You getta know where it is when you getta ticket, capicé?) Admission gets you a seat in the Jimmy Hoffa Memorial poker tournament (thanks to our friends at Poker Open) and a chance to win prize packages galore. If we tell you any more, we'll have to kill you.

Can you outplay and outlast the rollergirls? Do you want to drink hooch and rub elbows with Rat City all-stars? Be there, or you're gonna get your own pair of concrete galoshas. Space is extremely limited. Contact Baby Face Shovey Chase at shoveychase@ratcityrollergirls.com for ticket information.

Austin or Bust!

At the Western Regionals earlier this year in Tucson, Rat City surprised everyone (well, everyone but US) by unseating the reigning champs, the Texecutioners, and ranking #1 in the country! Winning Nationals will seal the deal. We can't wait!
