Can you believe it? It's 2007 already, and that means that the Rat City Rollergirls are gearing up to start our third season. Our very first official bout of the year will be February 24th at the Everett Events Center, proudly presented by our sponsor, NWSource.com!

Don't miss the Sockit Wenches going head-to-head with the devil horns of Grave Danger, or the Throttle Rockets blasting off against the Derby Liberation Front. Our halftime guests hits will be the brand-new Jet City Rollergirls, Snohomish County's own start-up roller derby league, who will take on the Rat City Rollergirls in a game of Last Woman Standing!

In addition, 2007 brings new ways for the Rat City Rollergirls to give back. We are proud to present our spotlight community care organization for the inaugural bout of 2007, Cocoon House. Cocoon House serves homeless and at-risk youth in Snohomish County and will be taking home 10% of our net profits.

The second annual Dust Devil is fast approaching -- Rat City is returning to Tucson, Ariz. seeded third among twelve for the WFTDA Western Regional Tournament, which will determine who continues on to Nationals in the fall.

We've been training hard to make sure our mouths aren't writing checks that our hip checks can't cash, but in the meantime, we're hoping our actual checks don't bounce! To help out with travel expenses, the Rat City Rollergirls All-Star Team is hosting a Tuc$on or Bu$t! party at the Funhouse on February 1st, 2007. We'll be auctioning off some swanky swag* and selling jello shots by the armload to earn our way to the Grand Canyon State.

I mean your wits. No, I mean your pencils. Heck, sharpen ‘em all!

It’s time to shake the cobwebs outta the Graveyard! Grave Danger’s doing something new this year; we’re going to be giving some devilishly fabulous prizes to those certain special someones who can write the most rousing memento mori.

Got a favorite player? Is Skate Trooper gonna take ya on the Highway To Hell? Got the correct answer for Sara Problem? Will you draw a bouquet of mourning glories for Morning Gory? Jot it down on some posterboard, pop it on a stick, and wave it around at our season opener (and all homegames thereafter). Our Voodooriffic mascot, Baron Samedi will stand at the crossroads and cast favor.
