Season 3 - Bout 3 Presented by Seattle Biodiesel Saturday, April 21, 2007 Place: WaMu Theater at Qwest Events Center Time: Doors @ 4:30 PM, Bout at 5:30 PM BUY TICKETS NOW! We are trying out a brand-new venue this time around, and we
hope you like it! We're at (deep breath) WaMu Theater at Qwest Events
Center. It's a long name, but it should be worth it: trackside seating,
plenty of reserved seats, and bleachers with a great view for ALL
general admission seats! The Sockit Wenches and Derby Liberation Front will meet again
for the first time since the 2006 Championship Game, with DLF staging a
biodiesel-fueled revolution against the gas-guzzling Wenches while the
Wenches hope to not-so-gently remind DLF of exactly why they won the 2006 Championship.
And of course,
we are super excited to welcome the Bay Area Derby Girls
(that's B.A.D. Girls, to those in the know) up from California for
their bout against Grave Danger! To purchase tickets in-person (and avoid any pesky fees), please visit these locations:
To
everything there is a season (ticket)
Time's almost up to buy
season tickets for 2007! April 15th
will be
your last chance to buy season tickets (which have been pro-rated for
mid-season purchasing). After April 15th, season tickets are going to
make
like a tree, and leave.
Think of it -- you won't see a sold-out sign all season, and
no more
forgetting to buy tickets each month! Plus, our season ticket holders
will reap benefits galore, including: Apart from the convenience factor, being a season ticket holder means you won't miss a moment of the action this year. It's already off to a good start for being a landmark year for Seattle roller derby, with exciting new venues and visiting teams from far-off lands challenging your local favorites. Click here to buy season tickets, or e-mail Kitty Kamikaze at ticketing@ratcityrollergirls.com for more information. And don't forget -- season tickets make great gifts! May
6: Green vs. White
If yellow and blue make green, what do green and white make? A very
scary bout, that's what. RCRG's Western Regional Champion all-star
team is going to undergo a little binary fission, and then ... and
THEN ... the all-star team is going to play ITSELF! That's right,
that's right, a little green versus white. If you ever wanted to see
Miss Fortune and Drew Blood jam against one another, or Rettig to
Rumble andD-Bomb playing in the same defensive line-up, now's your chance! Mark your calendars for this special fundraising event as green and white beat up on each other to earn their way to Nationals this fall! The May 6 Green & White Bout at Bellevue Skate King is a fundraiser for the all-star traveling team, which needs to raise enough money to get to Austin, Texas, for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) national championship later this year. Are you the ultimate derby fan? Do you know the ins and outs of the game, and keep track of all the players? Would you make a good coach? We'll be having two eBay auctions* to pay for your chance to coach. The travel team will arrive with our green and white jerseys, then the coaches draft their ultimate derby dream teams and decide line-ups. It's the chance of a lifetime for our #1 (and #2) fan(s). Tickets on sale at the April 21 bout and online starting on April 22. *Auctions will start April 22 -- check our website for details! Hang
on, Hangar
The Rat City
Rollergirls turn three years old this month, but where will we
celebrate our fourth birthday? Unfortunately, this could be one of
RCRG's last seasons at Magnuson Park's Hanger 27.
The City of Seattle Parks Department is marching forward to privatize Hangar 27 for use as an exclusive indoor soccer facility. And it's possible that even if the City Council can stop them and approve a Community Collaboration Proposal rather than the soccer club, the city will shutdown Hangar 27 in 2008 for design, approval and repairs to the facility. In 2006 Hangar 27 was booked 25 weekends, served 70,000 citizens and was utilized by the following groups. If privatization does occur, many -- if not all -- of these groups will be shut out, including your hometown rollergirls. Please show your support of RCRG and the other community
groups that
use Hangar 27. Your signatures helped get the Seattle City Council's
attention, but now we need your letters of support expressing: Write or call the Seattle City Council and tell them how you feel:
Or e-mail individual members of the Council: Keep public spaces public! See you at the bout! LEAGUE CALENDAR Friday,

April 14 -- DLF and Home Alive
As much as we like to
beat each other up, we don't really like it when people get hurt
without their permission. Other groups, like Home Alive, tend to agree. Their
mission: "to build a cultural and social movement that puts violence in
a context of political, economic and social oppression, and frames
safety as a human right".
If you were lucky enough to get tickets to their SOLD OUT auction, "The Art of Self-Defense", you'll get a chance to see Derby Liberation Front present some of these fabulous prizes. Saturday,
April 21 -- S3B3 with B.A.D. Girls
Our very first bout at
the WaMu Theater at Qwest Field Event Center -- an unassuming name for
what is sure to be a kick-ass new venue. Special guests Bay Area Derby

April 21st -- WaMu Theater Doors at 4:30 p.m. -- bout starts at 5:30 p.m.

be more than happy to sell you tickets for (gasp!) the actual ticket
price! Saturday,
April 28 -- Arm Wrestling!?!
Seriously! Our
competitive spirit knows no bounds -- we've expanded from wrestling
each other on the track to wrestling ... well, just about anywhere! In
this case, we've extended an invitation to ALL roller derby leagues in
the Northwest (as well as anyone who wants to give it a go -- that
means you!) to our April arm-wrestling contest!
Presented by Derby Liberation Front and Cherry at Rebar, and lasting all night long, Cherry will be celebrating their two-year anniversary and providing some fantastic DJs! Come to show off your guns or shake your buns; either way, it'll be a great time! Check out DLF's team forum for more details! Sunday,
May 6 -- Green vs. White Travel Team Fundrai$er
