very beginning of the Rat City Rollergirls. 2004 was an historic time for roller derby
in Seattle. Some of the skaters that contributed countless hours of planning, fundraising
and training are no longer actively skating with Rat City, yet many continue to participate
in other ways toward the advancement of the sport they love. Others are still actively crackin'
heads with Rat City. Enjoy these photos from the rebirth of derby in Seattle.

Alki Beach Skate Jam
We had quite the turnout!
We wore our new hot league shirts and skated for hours along
Alki Beach in West Seattle! We handed out flyers and drummed up support for
the Funhouse Tavern benefit
on May 16th! Many thanks to the all the paparazzi who came to capture the
many wild moments of the day!

Sunset Tavern Fundraiser
Thank you for attending our Fundraiser at the
Sunset Tavern in Ballard. What a killer
turn out and a GREAT SHOW! Many thanks to the bands who played:

and sweetie DJ Taco Supreme! A huge thanks to our photo booth man, our bartenders and EVERYONE who participated!
Not only did you help us meet our goal of raising $1000, you helped us exceed it by about 150 percent.
The funds went toward getting a venue to bout at.

2004 Gay Pride March
The Rat City Rollergirls showed our support at the Seattle Pride March! Hundreds of people lined
the streets and gave us a cheer and a wave along Broadway on Capitol Hill while we cruised through
the streets with our new banner, our parade "float", and Kelsey the wonderdog! We showed our rowdy
RCRG antics and handed out tons of stickers, buttons and flyers to our ever growing kickass fan
base! Looks like Seattlites are crazy for roller derby!

2004 Carwash Fundraiser
We washed cars, trucks and things that go till we could go no more. Thanks to the
Funhouse Tavern for the time, space and water!

2004 1st Annual Blacktop Brawl!
We blocked off the street in front of the
Pacific Rim Brewing Company
(Home of the Rat City IPA) in our beloved namesake neighborhood for our first
Rat City Rollergirls Street Race and Block Party Fundraiser!

Adopt-a-Road Roadway Clean-up in White Center
The Rat City Rollergirls work hard to be positive and productive members of their community both on and off the
rink. One example of our community service is volunteering to help keep our roadways clean through the
King County Adopt-A-Road Program.
On Saturday, October 9, 2004, the Rollergirls (and some of their friends) fought the rain and pulled together
to clean up over nine contractor-sized bags of garbage and recyclables off of a two-mile stretch of our adopted
road: 16th Avenue SW in White Center (Rat City).
