Championship Bout & Grudge Match
Magnuson Park at Hangar 27
7400 Sandpoint Way
The 2006 Season Championship Bout and Grudge Match rocked Magnusen Park's Hanger 27 like nothing this city has ever seen before!
The Grudge Match:
Grave Danger battled The Throttle Rockets in the first bout of the evening. Grave Danger came into this game high off a win against the Sockit Wenches in Bout 6, and the Throttle Rockets came in with something to prove. It was an all out war of space photons and hellfire. When all the lightening ceased and the smoke had cleared, the Throttle Rockets emerged the victors.
THIRD PLACE: Throttle Rockets
FOURTH PLACE: Grave Danger
Championship Bout:
The Sockit Wenches completely rebuilt their engines in anticipation of this match against the only team in
RCRG history to threaten an undefeated season, the Derby Liberation Front. It was a battle to the nail biting end as penalties and injures plagued the Front while the Wenches shifted it into high gear. When the battlefield lie quiet at the end of the second period, the victor was clear, 2006 had become the "Year of the Wench."
FIRST PLACE: Sockit Wenches
SECOND PLACE: Derby Liberation Front
Thank you to DJ Boo Berry for spinning tunes all night long, and to The Aerialistas for performing their death defying aerial acrobatics at half time!
Some of the highlights of the 2006 Season Championship Bout (submitted by Scott Engelhard, photographer):
- Darth Skater's final bout punctuated by an amazing final jam that sealed the Throttle Rocket win.
- The Professor Jake Stratton PROPOSING to Clobberin' Mame! Of course, she said yes.
- A marching band.
- A bag pipe band.
- The entire DLF team wearing, in what has to be the best underwear prank ever — sorry Jo Jo, bright red underwear with "Suck it Wenches" across their backsides.
- A new Score Whore.
- An impassioned Molly D. Molish delivering a rallying cry speech for the ages (or at least for the Scottish Highlands).
- A kickass afterparty featuring some great (and not so great, but that's what makes it great, right?) karaoke.
- Grave Danger and the Throttle Rockets "overruling" General Anesthesia when he called their bout with the clock under 20 seconds and going ahead with a final jam anyway.
- Lots of extra-curricular stuff during the DLF/Sockit Wenches bout. LOTS of extra-curricular stuff.
- A Grave Danger leg-whip between Femme Fatale and Rollin' Bayou.
- A half-naked Rocketman Houllahan running around the track.
- Femme Fatale and D Bomb winning the Offensive and Defensive MVP awards, and then not being able to really compete due to sickness and injury — both wore sorely missed by their teams (and the fans).
- Another jaw-dropping halftime performance by the Aerialistas.
- The synchronicity of having a prebout performance by the Flux Capacitors in the beer garden while 3 DeLoreans were parked out front. No relation.
- And of course, two match-ups that feature some of the hardest hitting, hardest skating and most exciting roller derby EVER. There will be tons of photos to come, mine included, but they won't do justice to the real experience. You all are great and it is a pleasure to be an RCRG fan.

Season 2, Bout 6
Magnuson Park at Hangar 27
7400 Sandpoint Way
The sixth bout of the season featured the following lineups:
Throttle Rockets vs. Derby Liberation Front
Grave Danger vs. Sockit Wenches
Despite their Intergalactic speed, the Throttle Rockets were not able to defeat the Army of Defence that is the Derby Liberation Front. Grave Danger was on fire, causing the Sockit Wenches to overheat as the ladies in red defeated the Wenches, sending them off to the Championship Bout broken, bruised and battered.
Many thanks to our pre-show band White Knuckle Ride, and to DJ Boo Berry for spinning tunes all night long. Our fabulous halftime act was Fankick!, our favorite '80s dance duo!

Rat City Rollergirls Charity Brawl
The Rat City Rollergirls played their biggest venue yet and blew the doors of last season's attendance records at their Charity Brawl and Exhibition Bout at the Everett Events Center on March 4, 2005. An estimated 4,500 people came to watch Rat City's four teams duke it out on behalf of their favorite non-profit organization.
The Sockit Wenches won first place and came away with the top prize of $1,000, which the team will give to the White Center Community Development Association.
Grave Danger arrived in second place, and will give $500 to Girls on the Run.
Derby Liberation Front came in third and will give $250 to Cocoon House
Throttle Rockets came in fourth and will give $250 to the Angel Care Foundation.
The event marked the Rat City Rollergirls' first bout north of the Seattle area. They were joined in Everett by many of their loyal fans from the 2005 season that made the trip, and were also able to expose a whole new group of fans to the exciting sport of roller derby. Included in the night's festivities, was a battle to win "Last Woman Standing" featuring the Rat City Rollergirls against Vancouver Canada's breakout flat track roller derby league, the Terminal City Rollergirls! Winner, Jackie Hammer, Sockit Wench, Rat City Rollergirls, USA.
